Dr. Molly Clavey is a dedicated and passionate Customer Success Manager at NatureMetrics, where she works to leverage environmental DNA (eDNA) solutions to drive positive outcomes. With expertise in stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, and value realisation, Molly is committed to bridging scientific innovation with practical applications to ensure client success and environmental impact.
Molly specialises in helping a wide range of clients, from conservation organisations to corporate stakeholders, achieve their sustainability goals through the application of eDNA technology. Her expertise spans multi-national corporates, stakeholder engagement, and the strategic communication of science, and she is deeply invested in promoting the use of DNA-based technologies to enhance our understanding of biodiversity for the benefit of both people and the planet.
Her academic background includes a PhD in Zoology from Stellenbosch University, where her research focused on using eDNA metabarcoding to establish baselines of fish biodiversity in South Africa. She also holds a First-Class Master’s degree in Marine Biology from Bangor University, with extensive international experience in the UK, Germany, Kenya, and South Africa. Throughout her career, Molly has worked on the full lifecycle of an eDNA programme, from research design and laboratory set-up to fieldwork and large-scale metabarcoding workflows, to her more recent work aligning eDNA programmes with multi-national corporate structures.
Molly’s communications expertise was recognised when she won a national Young Science Communicator’s Competition (YSCC). Since then, she has trained in science communication and lectured at various educational levels. Through her company, “ZoologyMolly,” she has provided science communication services, translating complex scientific concepts into accessible language for a wide range of audiences.
At NatureMetrics, Molly uses her deep knowledge of DNA-based biodiversity monitoring and her communications background to enhance how science is conveyed, benefiting clients and driving positive environmental outcomes across various sectors.
